well a lot of people are raving over the books.. I for one am going to sink my teeth into them till next season. although some who like the books don’t care for the show.. the characters are not as close to the story or something.

“the killer is old man perkins! who runs the old amusment park!”
And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn’t been for those pesky kids and their dog!

I have read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books, and now have watched all of season 1 (except for episode 8 stupid thing wont load lol) and I love both. It’s true the show doesn’t follow the books all the way-but the show is fantastic and somehow….more.
I can’t wait for season two.

Does anyone know of other books similar to sookie stackhouse? Watched all twelve and read all the books…

Lafayette is dead, HBO had better not axe this series! This ending is way off from the books, I might be getting the storyline mixed up from the series, but I still want to see the next installment of TB! I just want HBO to get to the point where Eric has to wear Pink spandex and fishnets. Ahhh, what a sight that’ll be:D
Posted by: Sick Over Lafayette - 03/03/2009
OMG, No, PLEASE don’t let Lafayette be gone! He was my favorite character!

True Blood is a good show. I liked it. Some parts stick to the book, but most is way far out there. Like Jason never got hooked on vamp blood, and definately never joined the Fellowship, Arlene did. I got into the books to feed my addiction waiting for Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series. I suggest reading them. They’re really good books. Don’t stop reading them just because they don’t match the show. I wasn’t going to watch the show because the characters didn’t fit the descriptions. For instance, Eric is supposed to have long, flowing, golden hair, and was a viking when he was turned. Like I said though, it’s a good show and I liked it and can’t wait until next season.

There’s no way we’re going to see Eric in pink spandex. I agree that would be pretty awesome but the series has already ventured away from the books. I must say, I like the books better so far.

I love the series, I read the books before i ever watched a single episode and they don’t follow the books but, what show does? Anywho- Am I the only one who thinks Sam is a total hottie?
Posted by: Michael - 03/18/2009
Damn! Rene was my favorite character! Now he’s a killer AND dead. Well poo!

i just want to say that the name of this episode is not original…it’s something picked up from Twilight book when Edward says to Bella:”You’ll be the death of me”…
but,True blood is preety amazing though…

Oh, I’m totally in love with this series. Summer 09 can’t come soon enough. I think I’m gonna gorge myself on the books until then. Thanks for posting the episodes! Gotta say, Bill is by far my favorite, he’s such a gentleman!
Posted by: Chansie - 04/05/2009
i loved the books way more, but thats always the way it is. The show its self is good, but u miss out on so much if u dont read the books
Posted by: micsxhurtx3 - 04/08/2009
Theres a series called The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series thats similar to this, yet still different.
And I can’t wait til Eric actually starts showing some interest in Sookie like he’s SUPPOSED TO. Maybe I’ll get to see Alexander Skarsgard’s face a little more ;]

I actually read all the books before I ever saw True Blood. While I do absolutely love the books I think the show is better! It shows the other characters points of view and its kinda dark and raw. Love how Jason gets hooked on VJ and the tripping scenes! Definitely needs more Eric:)

The Series may be nothing like the books at some points, but it holds true to most of the characters. yes, in the book Lafayette dies, but he dies in the second or third book if i remember correctly, and we are already pasted that in the series. I wonder what season 2 will bring us. I agree the Eric character is not correct, but then again I never imagined Anne Paquin as Sookie either. I don’t remember Tara being black, but i read so much i don’t recall everything. If they held true to the book, like some said in a previous post, Tara would not be in the series so much, as she is not in the books that often. She also owns a dress shop and she ends up dating a vampire, and gives Sookie her car. Now if we get that in the series that would be cool, if not the series is, in its own right is good. The characters are well thought out, and the writers did a good job, at creating something out of nothing, in terms of a few of the characters. I think the guy playing Rene is great. In my head Terry is much older, then he is in the show, and Sam, well I just saw him as stockier man, then the person who is playing him. I wonder if they will keep true to the story line, and have Eric move in after his brain is fried, and I also wonder if they will introduce the Quinn character, and a few of the other were characters from the book. Who knows, but I cant wait to find out.

I love True Blood! I read some of the books. I did not think it was very good but the the tv series is amazing! I hope it does not stick to the books because I love Sookie and Bill and in the books they split up!

VampireRocks,
I think that you are implying that True Blood is ‘knocking off’ some of the things that were seen in Twilight, correct?
I STRONGLY beg to differ. These books were started and in print YEARS and YEARS before Stephanie Meyer had her little dream. I have read the 1st 4 books and I have counted numerous times where I have seen where Stephanie has lifted things from Charlaine’s books. To a degree, I might add, that is unflattering. I read the Twilight series before I discovered Sookie’s books. It is like comparing a cheap Dollar Store clone Barbie and a vintage 1959 #1 Barbie in mint condition. Stephanies books are what they are.. a good easy read that is entertaining for a young adult reader. Not a lot of originality in them though. Whereas Mrs. Harris’s books are boiling over with fresh idea’s, storylines and original Supe character deveolopment. Bill and Eric = REAL vampires… Edward = a wimp in a tree.. LOL~

WOW! That’s truly an insight considering that is an age old saying! IT’S BEEN AROUND FOR EVER YOU IDIOT! STEPHANIE DIDN’T COIN THE TERM!

HBO will not cancel it. It became one of its high rated shows since the Sopranos.
TrueBlood is here to stay!!
By the way, the book series this was based off of was around YEARS before Twilight was published.
