    Looks good. :)

  2. Posted by: Rory - 11/04/2008

Okay so Sam is the dog? I find this strange because I remember a scene in one of the first episodes that showed Sam and the dog together. He was sitting on his porch and the dog ran up to him…

    Anyone know anything about this?

  3. Posted by: Rachel - 11/07/2008

Yes, I saw that. You know Sam could be a shape shifter, or maybe he has a twin, or maybe that is one of his family members….. just a thought

  4. Posted by: barbara - 11/07/2008

Rory sam was the dog, but he can change into any animal when the moon is full, he can also will himself into but it takes longer to do so and to change back thats why he was seen running naked in the woods, by the way love your name

  5. Posted by: barbara - 11/07/2008

sorry i should have wrote he can duplicate any animal he see last, that’s why we could see both sam and the dog at the same time

  6. Posted by: Bayareababy - 11/07/2008

I know. There were a lot of scenes of sam and the dog, the same dog.

  7. Posted by: stacey - 11/07/2008

    he’s a werewolf!!!!

  8. Posted by: Deana - 11/08/2008

    Sam called the dog “brother”

  9. Posted by: D'renee - 11/08/2008

I noticed that too and I remember the scene of him with the dog. It doesn’t make sense and makes me wonder if the writers are messing up.

  10. Posted by: Jake - 11/08/2008

I think Sam has a dog named dean, that looks like Sam, when he is a dog. Which when you think about it, if you could turn into a dog, wouldn’t you get a dog that looked like you, because all mystery would be pass to the other dog.

I keep thinking there was an early episode that had a night time scene that showed two dogs side by side, watching over a house.

  11. Posted by: Confused - 11/08/2008

I’m very confused by this – I’m pretty sure I saw Sam and the dog in the same place. Is he a shape shifter? Can he clone himself? Am I missing something?

  12. Posted by: Caroline - 11/08/2008

Yeah, Sam is like a shapeshifter. He can take form of the last animal he sees. And He just chooses to be the dog.

  13. Posted by: Rolo - 11/08/2008

In episode 7, Tara goes to Sam’s house and says hi to the dog that is sleeping in front of Sam’s house and comes insdie the house and there is Sam fixing something in the kitchen, maybe there are two dogs.

  14. Posted by: Domino - 11/09/2008

I think He’s a shape shifter. He can shift into the shape of things around him…the dog is the closest animal I guess but i’m really not sure lol

  15. Posted by: Trippy39 - 11/09/2008

Let’s just say that ‘porch dog’ was what is known as ‘foreshadowing’ and ‘misdirection’

    ;)

  16. Posted by: Judyy - 11/09/2008

i dont get how Sookie drank so much of Bill’s blood in the begenning but when Jason drinks the little vial his body goes haywire…the only thing i could come up with was that Sookie was about to die…in the book Dead Until Dark she drinks his blood all the time and it just does good things…im a little confused about that… :/
    ??

  17. Posted by: TrueBloodFan - 11/09/2008

If you have read her books, the books the series is based on, it will all make sense to you, if not, you will just have to wait and see how it all goes together.

  18. Posted by: Jess - 11/09/2008

I can’t figure that out either, in the books he is a shifter and turns into a dog so he keeps a book open on the picture of a collie so thats what he turns into, maybe in the series he has a collie for the same reason? The series is alot different from the books so I could be totally wrong xD

  19. Posted by: horserider - 11/10/2008

when is the earliest i can watch tonites episode or is there another website i really want to c tonites episode TONITE! iv just got to c what happens and of course i want to c bill and eric its like my v!

  20. Posted by: kitty - 11/10/2008

Sam is a shifter. He can shift into any animal and prefers the collie. A shifter has to see the animal he wants to change into right before he shifts. Thus Sam keeps an open collie book on his table…at least that is how it is in the books.

  21. Posted by: Katlyn - 11/10/2008

It would make sense that Sam is the dog, since there was the time he ran thru the forest naked. But I agree with Rory, we saw Sam with a dog that looks like the one he transforms into. Werid. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

  22. Posted by: Matt - 11/10/2008

yeah I remember several such scenes… there must be two dogs…

  23. Posted by: Phina - 11/10/2008

Anyone feel this is ripping twilight more and more

  24. Posted by: Antonia - 11/10/2008

    Rory,

I was wondering the same thing.. very confusing

  25. Posted by: Lorelei - 11/10/2008

Sam is the dog, and yes there was an episode with Sam and a dog, there is more than one shapeshifter, try and guess who the other is ;)

  26. Posted by: Amy S - 11/10/2008

Hey, Rory. I remember the episode you are talking about. I think that was just a red herring, so to speak; Just their way of trying to say, “Maybe Sam is, maybe he isn’t.”

  27. Posted by: nicolita - 11/10/2008

yeah, I remember that. I was wondering about it too…

  28. Posted by: Shaniece - 11/10/2008

Sam is a shape shifter he just took the form of the dog to get passed the cop…

  29. Posted by: miss m - 11/10/2008

sam is a shapeshifter. i suppose the dog is his own but can change into it (or i guess its twin) from time to time. in the book its during the full moon generally and is the last animal he sees, but the series and book are pretty different

  30. Posted by: Niki Lynn - 11/10/2008

I’ve read the book. If the show follows that storyline, it should explain why there is a scene with the same type of dog as Sam turns into. All shall (hopefully) be revealed in due time…

  31. Posted by: Jasonorillas - 11/10/2008

He called the dog brother. So either the dog was a shapeshifter as sam or he was just calling it brother because they are kin because sam can take dog form.

  32. Posted by: Katy - 11/10/2008

    Thats a different dog. :)

  33. Posted by: Nicole - 11/10/2008

Sam can turn into whatever animal he lasts sees.
At least thats how it is in the book.

  34. Posted by: Nicolita - 11/10/2008

yeah, but remember when Tara heard him barking in his sleep? If he’s a shape shifter, why does he shift into the same exact shape each time? Maybe he’s a domesticated werewolf? lol

  35. Posted by: mia - 11/10/2008

sam is supposed to shift into a collie but i guess they decided he turn into this mutt dog instead

  36. Posted by: Eve - 11/10/2008

Can someone tell me how come Jason can get high off of vamp blood but Sookie who had some of Bill’s just got alittle turned on and some heighten sences?

  37. Posted by: Christa - 11/10/2008

OK EVERYONE WANTING TO KNOW WHATS UP WITH SAME AND THE DOG: In the book Sam kept a picture of a dog nearby because he has to see it to change into it.. I’m sure the writers were supposed to have the actually dog be a dog that Sam just looks at so he can change. He is a shape shifter and can change into whatever animal he wants to but it has to be the last animal he’s seen.

  38. Posted by: Rory - 11/10/2008

    Thanks everyone!

I think now is a good time to start reading the books…. hahah

  39. Posted by: biffy - 11/10/2008

its not that hard to get guys.. sam has to see the animal that he is changing into.. so he keeps a collie around.. sam can change into a dog.. but he also has a dog.. very simple

  40. Posted by: neshapooh - 11/10/2008

i love this show but why does bill have to leave sookie almost every night there together. if they loved each other so much he would just ask her to move in with hime. or he could move his coffin inside of her house.
Why does Tara always want to have sex with sam and hes in love with bothe sookie and her?

  41. Posted by: lina - 11/10/2008

    whos the other shapeshifter?

  42. Posted by: lina - 11/10/2008

lorelei whos the other shapashifter? if you know please tell me

  43. Posted by: Shanice - 11/10/2008

Ok, there are 2 dogs. One is sam and the other is a real dog. The writers aren’t messing up

  44. Posted by: Hannon - 11/11/2008

I cannot watch episode 10! It has a publicity of something to meet other people, and it’s really driving me crazy hahaha I don´t know what to do!!

  45. Posted by: Cam - 11/11/2008

The other dog is just a dog. Sam just turns into that dog because he sees that dog a lot. In the flashback you notice he changes into the dog that he had as a kid.

  46. Posted by: Suncatcher - 11/11/2008

In this past ep, Sam said he kept another dog around…so there were two dogs. Another thing… the books also describe Sam as hardly ever cussin’ – for that matter, most of the characters don’t cuss like HBO has them doing. Bit disappointing that everyone is a trash mouth for the show. Where’s a bsr of soap when you need one? :)

  47. Posted by: Cass Errol - 11/11/2008

I just wanted to respond to the people who commented that it was “ripping Twilight.” If you look at the publication dates, Charlaine Harris published her first books long before Stephenie Meyer.

  48. Posted by: Pay Attention - 11/11/2008

Did you people not watch episode 10??? He clearly tells Sookie that she rubbed an actual dogs belly, not his!!! He told her that he can change into any animal; ie. cat, dog, bird…says the e prefers dogs because most people like dogs.

  49. Posted by: Amy - 11/13/2008

    The “Ripping on Twilight” comments….
You are an idiot! Stephenie Meyer books came out in 2006?? Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire stories by Charlaine Harris started in the early 90’s! So shouldn’t it be…. “Twilight/Stephenie Meyer stealing Sookie!”
    C’mon- who’s with me??
Plus- Twilight is for “young adults” and the Harris books- aren’t. They are definitely adult :-)

  50. Posted by: allie - 11/13/2008

Also on the ripping off Twilight, not only the books but this actual show has been in the works for a couple of years now, waaay before Twilight was even remotely popular

  51. Posted by: cauliflower346 - 11/16/2008

What? Why is EVERYTHING and ANYTHING that has to to with vampires compaired to Twilight?
THAT book has about NO origanality!
And just like Amy said, True Blood came out way earlier then Twilight did.

And I see no resiblance in the two, though I’ve only read the first book.

and “He can’t be the dog, he’s been with it at the same time”
to the people saying that: are you paying attention? lol
Sam said he needed something as a referance to change into.
He’s not that dog, he just made himself LOOK like that dog.
It was never said that he and the dog were the same thing….

  52. Posted by: Liana - 11/19/2008

I’ve read books by Anne Rice, Charlaine Harris, and Stephanie Meyers. Even though I love Twilight and plan on seeing the moving this week, I hate it when people compare this show to that. There is nothing remotely similar about it, and Twilight does not own any copyrights to vampires or love stories. I heard Meyers is a Morman so her books are like PG-13 where as this series is definitely for a mature audience.
I sort of stopped reading the Dead series because the new one wasn’t coming out for a few months so now I can go back and read it. XD
I was so excited when I catched True Blood on HBO Canada on Sunday. I went to catch up from the beginning on line since then. Going to re-watch the 11th episode since I missed the first quarter. Thanks for the flash player, I don’t have to endure the annoing pause/loading skips and foreign subtitles. :)

  53. Posted by: TmuthafuckinJ - 11/27/2008

If you have so many ?s about sam and the dog people why dont you try READING THE BOOKS! This show is amazing but only because they are following the books almost to the T. Don’t be all suspenseful about it. He is a shape shifter. There are many. Also, Sookies bro does not have a “V” addiction in the books but later he does become a shapeshifter, so there fucking lazy tv watching americans. Go read a book you slobs.

  54. Posted by: Vanessa - 12/03/2008

The actor playing the fat self-pitying vampire does the voice of Bill on King of the Hill. I found that a bit funny.

  55. Posted by: alias - 12/31/2008

do you guys NOT REMEMBER sam himself talking about how he has a MODEL dog as WELL.
jeez, what do you pay attention to -_-

  56. Posted by: Claire - 02/21/2009

Okay Sam is a shapeshifter and apparently they turn into whatever but they can only turn into a animal they’ve seen, yeah they have preferences but thats the way it works so obviously sam turns into his own dog because he knows it so well

  57. Posted by: GI Jones - 03/12/2009

Sam can’t be a werewolf, weres strictly turn into wolves. Sam is a shifter. Weres look down on shifters. I agree though about the whole scene with Sam and the dog. I think it was just meant to throw you off so when sookie wakes up and Sam is there naked it’s more of a shocker.

  58. Posted by: bob - 03/14/2009

do any of you actually pay attention? Sam said he needs a model to copy. Sookie comments about rubbing his belly and Sam said that was the real dog.

  59. Posted by: Rayman - 03/17/2009

btw guys sam is a shapeshifter he is that dog u find out in episode 12 goodluck sorry if i spoiled it =p

  60. Posted by: Katie - 04/08/2009

Just.. wow. Lol. You all should read the books, first. Ditto on what bob said. f you paid attention you’d have heard that Sam turns into the last animal he touched, of course, in the books, it was the last animal he saw, which is why you’d see dog photos on the wall of his office. :p

  61. Posted by: Miss_red - 04/14/2009

Okay to straighten a few things out…

Sam is a SHIFTER not a were wolf. The difference being a were-wolf can only change into a wolf, where as a shape shifter or as in the series “shifter” can turn into any animal that he has seen. In a book in the series he actually turns into a lion. So he can turn into anything he just likes to turn into a collie.

Also, the “V” in the tv series is non-existent in the book series. It is just some crazy infatuation they made for the tv series to make it more “interesting” so this is why sookie drinking bills blood, or if you have read any of the books, particularly the 3rd you know she drinks erics blood, doesnt make any sense at all. It is just a rewrite screw up lol.

As far as the collie and sam in the same place at once, if you listen to the next episode when he is explaining it to sookie you will know that he says the dog is real, that he uses that dog for reference when he shifts, he just favors being a collie to using so much energy to turn into a LARGER animal. Hope this helps.

By the way I suggest to all who havent read any of the books, that you do because they are wayyyyyyy better. the show is just great cause it personifies all your favorite characters but the books help you to understand people/vamps like Pam’s character better. Also believe me when I say this you will LOVE Eric if you read the books, cause I know before I read then I hated him based on the tv show alone. I am looking forward to seeing how they tie living dead in dallas to the next season since she probably wont leave bon temps

  62. Posted by: yay season 2 - 04/14/2009

Okay, I went to a blog or a forum or something and someone said that the sookie series is a twilight knock off. Let me tell you people who believe that something….

    1. Charlaine started the Southern Vamp series long before ms. Meyer put out her first twilight book.

    2. just because something has vampires in it does not make it a twilight copy cat.

    3. there are very few similarities between sookies story and bella’s okay?

I will even list those similarities:
    - Twilight has a telepath Edward (Vamp)
True Bloods telepath is Sookie (mortal)
-Twilight and True Blood both have vampires
    - Twilight and True Blood both have were’s

okay thats about all I got on similarities…

    lets prove some differences

    - Twilight: if Bella drinks edwards blood, she becomes a vamp herself
-Twilight takes place in washington and the vampires cannot sleep and dont own coffins or live in darkness, oh lets not forget they dont die from contact with sunlight!
-Twilight: the vamps pretty much keep their identity a complete secret.
    - the werewolves are native americans in twilight
-the only hierarchy in Twilight is the Volturi for the vampires I mean
    - There are not regular shifters in twilight
-in twilight weres and vamps are mortal enemies

OKay there are definitely more I am just tired of typing when I could be rewatching the rest of the season so good night to all.

  63. Posted by: Lucretia - 04/14/2009

If you watch the episode, Sam says so himself that he needs a live animal to then change into it. That’s why when Sookie says: But I rubbed your belly in the bar parking lot! he says basically, that wasnt him, it was really the dog. That would explain seeing the dog and Sam together – I figured out he was a shapeshifter from the start, and had wondered this aswell, but well, there you go.

  64. Posted by: kayla - 05/26/2009

NO….okay so Sam is a shapeshifter…but there is another dog that hangs around the bar. When he changed in the bathroom. Sookie was complaining how she would scratch his belly and Sam said that, that was another dog. A real one…A bit confusing, but no that was def. another dog.

  65. Posted by: Araya - 06/01/2009

Sam is the dog, but to transform he needs a model. That’s why there was a real dog there.

  66. Posted by: Amanda - 06/03/2009

    Wow, it’s not that hard.
I knew Sam was the dog when that detective andy wanted to talk to him as he was coming out of the bar and sam “forgot” something and went back inside. A minute later, a dog runs out of the bar.
That didn’t give it away at all.

  67. Posted by: Jacquie - 06/03/2009

blah. i always hated sam ever since i first read the books.

  68. Posted by: Helena Abraxas - 06/11/2009

Aw, I totally forget the adoption story. Different in the books.

  69. Posted by: graaaah - 06/12/2009

    *spoiler alert for this episode*

I don’t like the direction this episode took, or that they’re pushing the series in, in general. I have been very taken with this series (to be fair, I’ve never read the books), but recently, some of the plot lines have just seemed ridiculous. Vampire sherifs and bureaucratic vampires in suits running tribunals. Vampires being locked up in coffins with silver chains for years for killing other vampires- I mean, seriously? You think the undead, who live by murder, are really going to be that upset about a vampire being killed? This sort of thing just seems kind of silly. Also, it seems like Bill is just being put in this situation so he can prove his sappy undying (literally!) love for Sookie.
And on that topic… Sookie and Bill together are nauseating. I could take their relationship when they weren’t together, but now they just seem to be falling into an annoying, goopy, romantic interdependency. “Oh, I am a vampire, I will protect you!” It *is*, unfortunately, a little reminiscent of Twilight, and the distasteful relationship between Edward and Bella, though Sookie, fortunately, is a stronger character.
On Bill. His character isn’t interesting at all. He probably wasn’t interesting as a human being, now he’s just uninteresting as a vampire, instead.
Glad Tara is finally over all the demon crap.
    Sam as a shape-shifter= awesome.

I will say, I do like the series a lot, I just want it to move out of bad, B-grade plot lines and stay away from the mushy romance.

  70. Posted by: Z - 06/14/2009

Why didn’t same change back into a dog while he was sleeping next to Tara? Alan Ball needs his writers to start paying attention to these major differences.

  71. Posted by: karen - 06/16/2009

hmm why is twilight and this show pretty much the same lol

  72. Posted by: Ella - 06/17/2009

okay, was itjust me or was anyone else really disliking Tara when she was going through all of that demon issues? because she just seemed so annoying when she kept rejecting Sam when he wanted to become a couple. I still don’t really like her.

  73. Posted by: pongo09 - 06/18/2009

there is a dog in town that looks like sam

  74. Posted by: hannah - 06/25/2009

ok, so for alot of the questions I have seen posted over the last few months, i can only assume that you have not read the books if you have these questions. this was already addressed once, but i will do it again, since there have been more questions on it. this series looks like Twilight, because Stephenie Meyer ripped off Charlaine. These books were written in the ’90’s and twilight series was written in like 2006.

The whole sam/dog thing…sam is not a werewolf, he is a shape shifter. he can shift into anything he wants, but he prefers collies…the only time he cannot change into what he wants is at the full moon, when he can only change into the last animal he saw. the scenes with the dog and sam together only prove that there is a collie in town that sam hangs around with, because he obviously likes collies.

the reason he did not change into a dog when sleeping with tara is because he doesn’t change into an animal at night, unless it is the full moon. note the episode where he slept with sookie, and he was so tired, he changed back into a human, because that is his natural form. as discussed by other shifters, it takes energy to turn into an animal…it’s not their natural form.

Also, about hating the mushy stuff and romance…don’t watch the series then…it is based on the books, and the books are a romance series…duuh!

If you guys have this many questions, you need to read the books since that is what the series is based on!! It’s not that difficult…season one=book one!

I’m sure i could say more, but you people need to pay attention!!
    I’ll leave it at that.

  75. Posted by: Marina - 06/30/2009

Twilight was ripped off this. The True Blood novels were written way before twilight. And the show stared before the Twilight movie was even released.
