I love the way sookie has an interest in Bill. She cant read him so she cant tell if he will kill her, but you can tell he is a gentle soul. She looks at him with such innocent/courious eyes.

I saw episode 2 and episode 3; very cool. Love the opening and theme song. Can’t wait to see the next one

  3. Posted by: kriss-c - 09/28/2008

Can’t wait to see them all. Episode 1 established the characters etc. and now the story is taking off. Just gets better and better. I’m hooked.

  4. Posted by: Lish - 10/01/2008

This is kinda really bad compared to the books.

  5. Posted by: Tara - 10/10/2008

I don’t mind the show so much. They matched the characters well. But, I do prefere the books.

  6. Posted by: semaj - 10/20/2008

    love jason and tara

  7. Posted by: Angela - 11/05/2008

It’s kind of similar to twilight..
sookie can read minds but not bill’s.
edward can read minds but not bella’s.
sam, the guy that’s in love with sookie, cant have her cause of the vampire, and he’s obviously a shapeshifter.
jacob, the guy that’s in love with bella, can’t have her cause of the vampire, and he’s a shapeshifter aswell.
the whole premise of their love, human and vampire.

I like twilight better, but true blood is good too.

  8. Posted by: Sara - 11/10/2008

Lol sorry but you mean Twilight is similar to True Blood. The novel was written years before Twilight, so if someone copied the ideas that it was surely Stephanie Meyer.

  9. Posted by: katie - 11/16/2008

Yes, twilight is very similar tto true blood. It kind of makes you wonder… if twilight is really as original as she claims it to be. they’re just too much alike.

in addition to everything Angela posted 2 comments above mine,

True Blood: Sam is the shapeshifters name. sam was all alone until he found out about the others in dallas
Twilight: Sam Uley was the first “shape shifter”, alone until the others changed

    **THEY’RE BOTH NAMED SAM** lololol

TrueBlood: Sookie is pretty, and has no social life before bill
Twilight: bella is pretty and has no social life before edward

TrueBlood: The vampires higher up in power seem to have some kind of fix with sookie, they feel like she’s theirs
    Twilight: DUH. VOLTURI. same thing.

    …..coincidence? I dunno…..

  10. Posted by: Kristen - 11/16/2008

Yeah but the whole Not having a social life till they found the person they love… is a common thing in most romance books. Plus the two books have a different feel to them. Sounds weird i know, but thats just kind of how i see it.

  11. Posted by: salina - 11/21/2008

twilight and true blood are kind of similar though i just starting watching rue blood an now i just came back from the twilight movie midnight show baby lol
alsoo i think Jason is hott lmao and i sookie and Bil are just awesome =]

  12. Posted by: Anika - 11/21/2008

Hey all, this is episode one. Mind spoiling more of the series for us? Thanks.

  13. Posted by: Yea - 12/12/2008

Twilight is for teens and maybe preteens…true blood is more adult. everybody gets their vampir love story.

  14. Posted by: Brandy - 12/30/2008

One of the comments said that bella is pretty and has no social life before edward..which is not true before edward bell actually hung out with jessica and all them..after her and edward got together bell pretty much stops talking to them all together so that doesnt really work if ur tryin to conpare it to true blood

but both are deff reallly goood

  15. Posted by: Lindsey - 01/12/2009

well, “Supposedly” Stephenie Meyer had never been interested in vampires before she had a dream about the meadow. so..

  16. Posted by: Molly - 01/19/2009

Idc about the similarities, both are AWESOME!!!

  17. Posted by: Taylor - 02/16/2009

I see where ya’ll are getting to. I’m getting really suspisious over twilight now, but then again don’t most vampire books start out like that?

Personal Opinoin: Stephine Myer watched/read true blood had a dream about it (diffrent charactors) turned it into a best selling novel..

  18. Posted by: emily - 02/25/2009

twilight is definitly aimed more towards the younger crowd, where as the sookie novels & true blood are aimed obviously at adults…

  19. Posted by: shorty - 03/08/2009

actually food for thought jacob is a warewolf not a shapeshifter he can only change into a wolf and sam changes to a dog!!! shapeshifters change into multiple things good arguement tho!!

  20. Posted by: tonia - 03/25/2009

I watched them both and loved them both. Can’t wait until trueblood season 2 airs this summer.

  21. Posted by: re:: shorty - 04/06/2009

Jacob is in fact a shape shifter, not a werewolf, which they clearly stated in the book. Stephanie Myer definitely “borrowed” some or most of the ideas from somewhere else, so don’t compare the two series. Twilight is a ripoff of not only these books, but other ideas out there. I love the show!

  22. Posted by: rouar - 04/13/2009

i love bill!!!!! i love vampire!!! the story was very incredible interesting!!

  23. Posted by: Rachel - 04/18/2009

i love this! the bit in this ep, were bill says the are higher authouritys does he mean the queen of louisna, like in the books, bill was sent by the queen to make sookie care for him, in the books tho! is that what he means in this ep tho? cant wait for season 2.

  24. Posted by: Nicole - 04/29/2009

i just started watching this series.. and i gotta tell you, im starting to love it.. but, could there be any chance that Bill be replaced by another 30-ish something actor but prettier or at least sexier? I just cant get the chemistry between sookie and bill, everytime they’re alone, it makes me think that she’s with his dad or uncle.. just a suggestion.. ;p

  25. Posted by: Dee - 06/02/2009

I have to say, these series is not one of the best Vampire Romance/Sci Fi that I’ve ever read. It’s cute. I think the series on TV are way too over sexed (more than in the books) but I think that’s to compensate for other things… Overall, not bad, very entertaining, but certainly NOT the best. I’ll keep watching just so that I can say I’ve seen it and form my own opinion, and not just judge a “book by it’s cover”.

As for Twilight, don’t get me started started on that horrid series!!! And yes, I read them, also to be able to form my own opinion.

And Nicole (the post above, I believe?), Bill is supposed to be even MORE ordinary looking in the actual books. Very boring, yes, I know. :)

  26. Posted by: Fuck Dat Shit - 06/11/2009

This is my honest opinion an honestly if u don’t like it i don’t give a rats ass:
    :D

    First of all LMFAO
Stephenie Meyer “got inspired”(ripped off) a bunch of ideas from Charlaine Harris’s The Southern Vampire Mysteries to write her book Twilight
    XD

In my opinionThe Southern Vampire Mysteries is a much better book that Twilight.
And i really don’t know what’s the big deal since Twilight only got popular because of the movie and not even because of the movie its because of Robert Pattison and I dunno what’s the big deal with him he’s so ugly his face is all bulky, he looks like he’s high(well he is since he’s a pothead), and his hair is all ewwww he tries getting a shaggy messed up hairdo and it just ends up as an epic fail.

The movie sucked and the story line was soooooo fucked up. Oh and btw did anyone notice that Jacob’s Father is driving in one scene and he’s crippled…
    -_-

Stephenie Meyer’s series is not so bad well the first book Twilight i think was ok, the second one New Moon was horribly depressing, the third one Eclipse was a little okay but she kinda made it all bleh, and the fourth one omg Breaking Dawn lol wtf it was a Harry Potter meets Twilight thing .
    XD

    But w/e
    Xd

  27. Posted by: Nelly - 06/12/2009

Yeah! i totally agree with all of you, True Blood and Twilight are obviously a like. So far i think i like the Twilight story better i haven’t read the True Blood books but i like the True Blood show a lot better than the movies. Either way i love them both!

  28. Posted by: Brooke - 06/13/2009

To the poster who said twilight is only famous because of the movie and robert pattinson: you couldnt be more wrong. Everyone in school was reading the books, before it was even signed on to be a film.

But i have to say, i like this more than Twilight.

  29. Posted by: mshaitianj - 06/17/2009

im enjoying true blood LOVE the SEX SCENE i absolutly love tera and that one gay dude he is just soo funny

  30. Posted by: Rin - 06/17/2009

Twilight and True Blood have way too much in common. I like Twilight more, I’m not having to overlook cheesy southern accents. Not everyone from the south talks like that so it’s just annoying as hell. Good plotline, but whichever came first, Twilight or True Blood someone is seriously taking ideas from the other person. There are just way too many coincidences. Another thing I noticed.

    Three Volturi

Three evil vamps in True blood

Only thing that’s different is Suki seems to have an actually friend in Tara unlike Bella who didn’t really have one, and the fact that there is a lot more sex in True Blood. It’s like the adult verson of Twilight or something.

  31. Posted by: Caroline - 06/19/2009

Oh please don’t even think of mentioning Twilight against True Blood. The series is based off of Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Mysteries, and yes a good majority of people do speak with southern accents in the South [and me being from NYC, I must say it gets on my nerves living in the south, but eventually you get used to it]. Especially when you live in a small town.
As far as similarities, yes there are, but Charlaine Harris came out with the Southern Vampire Mysteries in 2001, where-as Twilight came out in 2005. Not saying Stephenie Meyer is a plot stealer, but just thought I’d clear that up in case you were thinking True Blood just took most of the ideas from Twilight and made them ‘adult-friendly’.

  32. Posted by: Rachel - 06/25/2009

Actually, Stephanie started writing “Twilight” on June 2nd 2003 to be exact as stated on her web page. That was the day or morning I should say, that she woke from her dream that begin it all.

All and all, ideas are all spun from past vampire stories, theories. The point is to enjoy them. I personally miss the “Buffy” days:)

  33. Posted by: tall long haired blonde - 06/26/2009

Wow!Can I get one Bill to go!He reminds me of Louis from interview with the vampire! If there is a real Bill out there(you know what I mean)I will be at oak alley mansion july 26/27ish.come claim your prize!;)I will look for your confirmation here.True Blood rocks!

  34. Posted by: cassie - 07/01/2009

the difference between Twilight and TrueBlood is that Bill isn’t as protective over Sookie as Edward is over Bella. Bill continually lets Sookie do what she wants and go where she wants without watching her (and then she gets hurt) whereas Bella is never allowed to go anywhere without Edward knowing or following.

  35. Posted by: bookworm - 07/02/2009

okay i get what all you are saying but the thing is it really honestly doesnt matter who copied off of who the main thing is that both books are amazing sure yeah maybe i think that twilight is better but i have to give true blood its credits it’s amazing in its own way so stop tearing down twilight if you dont like it oh well know one really cares just keep it to yourself

    twilight and true blood rocks!!!!!

  36. Posted by: sang - 07/15/2009

    This is good so far,
    much better than twilight
(but thats not hard coz I think twilight is terrable and all these comments about twilight being better are really getting on my nerves)
If any glitter-faced twihards are reading this I highly recommend that you get some proper vampire fiction fiction into your library, like Anne Rices Vampire Chronicles, or maybe even go old-school and pick up a copy of Bram Strokers Dracula……..

  37. Posted by: Annecy - 07/18/2009

    YES! FINALLY!! SANG!!

Just been reading through all the dumbass messages that are posted here and I’m SO glad that SOMEONE actually knows what they’re talking about!

I hate the fact that nowadays every little (if I may use your words) glitter-faced twihards are like OMG!!111 It’s like um OMG Bella and UM Edward OMG Robert!! And they still talk as if they even know anything about the subject.

This series! I’m not going to bash it but seriously? HBO REAALLY needed some money huh!?

As Sang said go read the originals nubs. Seriously.

  38. Posted by: Kate - 07/18/2009

Twilight was a poor excuse for a book and movie.
It definitely wasn’t the most original series out there.
Didn’t even have a plot, real characters etc.

True Blood and the series it is based on are amazing : )
And season two will be amazing.

  39. Posted by: Lovina - 07/30/2009

This series is entertaining, although theres alot of times i forget its about vampires. I find this concept very differet from what im use to. This is coming from someone that watches 1922 Nosferatu,’31 Dracula and Buffy etc… I’m an old school vampire lover. Its refreshing. I agree with a few comments here, Twilight is very similair to this series. Its just to show that no one has original ideas these days. Look at our movie industry for instance. Most of the movies coming out are either remakes or reboots.

Alot of vampyre movies/books/shows have similarities. Everything on Earth is similar hence the saying There is nothing new under the sun. Both are to be enjoyed and forms of entertainment….debate about something more interesting

  41. Posted by: rachel - 08/29/2009

yeah, omg. Stephanie Meyer is getting sued because her fourth book “Breaking Dawn” ripped off Jordan Scotts’ “The Nocturne.” It is so similar in fact that they have a really strong case…it was published in 1996 by the way. “Both books containing a wedding and sex on a beach scene,” but characters explained in the book have many similarities too, such as “Both books have a character explain what it’s like to go from a human to vampire and the lead vampire character referring to their wife as “love”.

  42. Posted by: rachel - 08/29/2009

Well, anyway True Blood is really awesome. I loved the Sookie Stackhouse novels they were wonderful. But, the series is off on a couple of points, but that’s ok it’s still good. I liked the Twilight movie, the books were actually written for preteens and teens; maybe that’s why I thought it was so boring. They were really whiny to me, but whatever. I’m not gonna judge lol I also like to watch musicals haha.

  43. Posted by: rachel - 08/29/2009

    Go Sookie and Eric! lol

  44. Posted by: Mikayla - 09/29/2009

Soo who cares if she did copy its not really that obvious && they are BOTH great !!!!

just enjoy both the movie/program series while they’re here. gosh

    :D

  45. Posted by: Shani - 10/02/2009

Weel to me i think true blood is the best (vampire) show ever in the world :D because obviously twilight is the most ficitional thing ive ever seen in my life and i want my 15 $ form the movies back right noww. but dude really
True Blood: SunLight Weakens Vampires When Is They are Exposed to it
Twilight: Aww we sparkle like little toys for babies to come and play with.
True Blood: they cannot touch silver or will be hurt fatally and garlic will be a problem too.
Twilight: They dont have and eating problems and they’re retarded.
and i dont think ive seen the fangs come out ONCE in the movie?! I MEAN COME ONNN! BRING ON THE FANGS, no wait that still wont make twilight good. obviously theres no draining and it says nothing of twilight ppl sleeping so that movie is simply Fudged up.
Actors.. not that theyre bad im just saying they are exactly the same but its the other way around EDWARD cant read BELLAS mind but on true blood
SOOKIE cant read any VAMPIRES mind. Pfft Trust me twilights just a rip off about true blood. and it says nothing there are werewolves isbgdfb i really do hate that stupid retarded up movie. sorry directors but your CRAPP. poopie (thumbs DOWNN!) True Blood (Thumbs UPP!)
Btw. Bill && Eric are Sexy

  46. Posted by: sazycute - 10/19/2009

I know i will probally sound like really weid but i love both episode films as they have great story lines. Twilight though got a bit too grusum at the end for me. so far in true blood the only grrusum thing i have seen was in episode 2 where sookie got scrathched a lot. so far i prefer true blood, it just seems more gripping than twilight, and you dont have to wait as long for he next one lol

  47. Posted by: sazycute - 10/19/2009

sorry this comment is so late, its coz true blood has only started here at this time

  48. Posted by: chant4mca - 01/01/2010

I cannot stand all the people complaining that this is way better than twilight . well people this isnt twilight first of all, and secondly the book came out long ago twilight is its own thing and hbo just wanted to make its own version of that same story. dont hate on twilight so much when the two are almost exactly alike. and also the book isnt as cheesy as the movies. of course movies ruin books. yes im a twilight fan, but i like this. who the hell cares

  49. Posted by: rutherzz69 - 01/03/2010

To the comment above- actually HBO have not “made it’s own version of the same story”; they have created an adaptation of Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Mysteries. Which are, for the record, much better than the twilight series. But that’s just my opinion.

  50. Posted by: tonna - 05/08/2010

This comment is in response to the above two comments–

To the twilight fan-People like what they like and there isnt anything you can do to change their minds–and nor should you. I know its frustrating, and can get on your nerves, but the more you try to “straighten them out” the more grief you get. Personally, I cant stand twilight, neither the books or the movies. But I did read them to see what the hype was about. I’m thinking about buying a “and Buffy staked Edward, the end” tee shirt cuz I’m tired of all the daily crap I have to slog through over it. But thats just me-its a big world out there, and if everyone liked the same things it would be terribly boring. You may hate characters I adore, and thats okay, too. Maybe you should read the books before you come to the site to bust on it, though. It doesnt sound as if you have–or you would know they are nothing alike. The place to defend the twilight series would be on their fan boards, not the true blood ones–you’ll only start a flaming war, and end up mad over it.

    And finally for rutherzz69–Nicely stated!
