    Um… question!

Did anyone notice TARA was switched to a darker and more timid sista? I’m not sure if I like this new Tara (played by Rutina Wesely). Her timing is kind of off and she’s not pulling off the racially charged pro-woman persona as well as Brook Kerr. I liked her WAAAAY better! And to the casting directors of True Blood:

    BRING BROOK BACK!!

I’m glad there is a place where I can actually voice this opinion! I really think nobody noticed… or are you all content with the NEW Tara??

    Whatever the case: Voice It!!

I don’t know… I thought the old Tara was annoying. It was as if they wrote the character way too strong.

I -like- how Tara is portrayed in the series.

I think the old Tara is the timid one, timid and bland. The new one brings a new strength, range and depth to the character. Much better casting.

Sorry, but I gotta agree with Fudgesicle. The original Tara felt much better with regards to the book development – plus, this is just me, I think she’s much prettier, too. I could watch her rant about being “uppity” over and over.

I would have to agree that I like the old Tara much better.I may be bias though because she played a character on a soap opera I loved(which is no longer airing on tv)

I AM SORRY BUT I REALLY LIKE THE NEW TARA BETTER BECAUSE I WOULD RATHER A THICK TARA THEN A SKINNY TARA. I FEEL SHE IS MORE POWERFUL ACTOR THEN THE OTHER. BUT LIKE EVERYBODY HAS SAID THIS IS MY OPINION.

Love the new Tara!!! She’s my hero…wish I could be just like her

  9. Posted by: MissStoic - 11/11/2008

The new Tara is much better – her Southern accent doesn’t sound nearly as fake and forced as the old Tara’s. The old Tara may have been prettier (IMHO), but she didn’t convey as much strength as the new one does.

Oh, and that link is dead, but if you search in the site you can find the episode :) .

yeah… because I wasnt familiar with the serie I was very confused about the 2 taras. I dont like when the actor changes. It takes me a long time to understand what its going on, ’cause I dont remember well peoples faces and then Im not sure what really changed.
About the actresses, both of then are quite pretty and good actresses. The second just seem to me more of anna paquins age.

Stop voicing your opinion without fact…

The old Tara was just another Chris Rock type. Funny, but old and ignorant. You’re white, I’m black, don’t fuck with me.

The new one leaves much of the racial element out of it, which I enjoy. It’s refreshing, and leaves her character very vulnerable

When was there an old Tara? I’m confused. Where can I see the “old Tara”?

  13. Posted by: David - 01/07/2009

‘I’m black, don’t fuck with me’ — yeh, alright love,

The new Tara works better, there was some time in between the pilot and series i believe? that may have an impact on the how the creators saw the future of the project.

I think the previous actress was rock solid in her performance and so is the new one – i feel its about the feel of the series and the supportive casts influence on the main plot and sub plots… interesting debate though.

    I like the new Tara.
Although the old one was pretty funny, she cracked me up.
But what I don’t get is why they switched the old Tara for the new Tara.
    Can somebody help me out?

And to those who don’t know who Tara is and what we are talking about; the “old Tara” was in the first episode to season one, and the “new Tara” is the one you see in this episode (episode two) and most likely all the other episodes.

Personally, I don’t think that the new Tara has a better accent. It still sounds fake.

Um….In the book Tara is white so seeing her black at all threw me off at first but I like that change. I think that both actresses have their strengths and weaknesses. I thought the first one was prettier, but I like how they changed the second’s attitude. much better :)

Ummm is it bad that I didn’t noticed that the Tara in the books is the Tara from the show?? I didn’t even put the two together cuz the show Tara is so much louder than the book Tara (vocal wise I mean)

  17. Posted by: chk - 04/08/2009

I wish they wouldn’t have changed the success of the character. Tara in the books is a strong successful woman. I’m not sure I understand why they made that change.

  18. Posted by: Courtnye - 04/10/2009

Ok just so everyone knows, in the books, Tara isn’t even made to be a black woman, unless there is one of olive skin complexion. I am glad she’s black on the show. However, the Tara in the books was both strong, outspoken as well as meek & quiet. It all depended on the moment. My biggest problem is she’s with Sam in the show at all. I don’t remember reading that at all……..

anyone notice that it wasnt bill who saved sookie and killed the rats?
bill showed up late and found sookie bloody on the ground.

  20. Posted by: CrouchingTiger - 05/31/2009

sniper8102, i am sure i saw a shadow or something, who got rid of those leaches? it would be so interesting if it had been Erik Northman but he didn’t even know about Sookie until she and Bill went to Fangtasia. Who was it?

  21. Posted by: CrouchingTiger - 05/31/2009

hook, everyone has right to speak their opinion, it does not have to be fact. For Example, if you think that a certain thing is extremely ugly or very pretty, anyone one has the right to think differently. You may not have heard before but the world would be boring if everyone thought the same and that is both fact and opinion all by itself.

  22. Posted by: Prin - 06/12/2009

I think you people get to upset by the series…lol

  23. Posted by: anon - 06/13/2009

i hate how megavideo only lets you watch for 72 minutes /:
i was in the middle of this episode

  24. Posted by: jenna77 - 06/14/2009

Are you guys crazy!!! I saw the original pilot and Brook Kerr was amazing! She was sassy, funny and gorgeous! I think that’s why they replaced her because she was too pretty and would’ve stolen the spot light that’s why they went the TOTAL opposite replacing her with a girl that has not near the experience etc and the new girl looks older than Brook what are you talking about??? No offense to new girl just keeping it real

  25. Posted by: Vamps - 07/05/2009

What is this about a new church…. And I dont think i got the right episode… Was it supposed to be in Jappanese and also- i feel like i missed something cuz it didnt show anything about this vamp bar… And it starts off with Sookie screamin?
ALSO ALSO! what happened at the end of the first episode? All i see is her gettin the crap beaten outa her…

  26. Posted by: Moreniqua - 12/07/2009

@ courtnye—DUH, there are “olive skinned Black people” you idiot, they are called “light-skinned” and seeing as this silly series is based in Louisiana, you’d think your ignorant ass would know that seeing as New Orleans was INFAMOUS for its PLACAGE–white men taking Black women as side wives in Quadroon Balls.
Also, what is wrong with Tara being VOCAL about race issues? Seems to me some of you white people just don’t like being reminded or made aware of racial issues because they don’t affect your asses.

I LOVE THE OLD TARA! –AFRO-Latina at UW Madison.
