Hey, I have it on good authority that this series is worth a look. My dilemma is this: I am not currently an HBO subscriber and there’s no way I’d become one just for this series alone; maybe if I see and love the first season- characters, plots, themes, arcs and all.

So I’d like to know- where can I get a taste of True Blood? I don’t see any video window here, per se, and the pilot episode I watched from a less than reputable download site was INSUFFERABLE.

I’m hoping to give the show the benefit of the doubt with regard to the pilot, due to aforementioned accolades as well as the fact that they could have ironed those kinks out (really cheesy/bad accents, pointless dialogue, flimsy but prominent stereotypes, scenes that droned on & missed the point, etc- sorry I didn’t mean to complain because it’s not fair as it was only a pilot, but those were my honest opinions) for the material that has actually aired as officially part of the first season.

Case in point: there were elements to the pilot that interested me and/or showed promise and I’d really like to check out the series as it was originally broadcast. It could very well be an excellent program as some people are saying it is.

But I don’t want to start at ep 11! I came to this page for what should be the first ep and yet I don’t see any evidence of a vid or a link. Please help or weigh in, guys, if you have any thoughts!!! I’d like to know where I can legitimately catch up on the series w/o havin to skip around!!! Thanks a bunch. ( :

I think it’s awesome that this must be the pitch pilot or something, because it’s missing scenes and some special effects, a couple things are different and the actress playing Tara is different…and not very good for the role.

    Very cool!!!

The Link to the chinese site YOUKU.com still gives the full video in ENGLISH! If you can tolerate the writing placement on the screen then its A-ok! :)

This show is amazing! very realistic. But still nothing compared 2 Stephenie Meyer’s series

  15. Posted by: orangeinsomniac - 01/07/2009

Stephenie Meyer = published fanfiction. And before anyone starts flaming, I HAVE read the books.

True Blood is so awesome, I can’t wait to go to the library and read the books!

The referred site for episode one doesn’t have the same character for ‘Tara’ as the real series? so confused

  17. Posted by: Homesick Angel - 01/14/2009

ok i love this show from wut i have seen so far and wut info i have looked up before watching it. I only have to problems with it
Problem 1: wut is with the vampyre teeth they are to close together and to the front to much
problem 2: didn’t they say Eric was hot and had short blond hair and well hot.
ok other than that i would say this movie is B/A and i hope to watch more of it

  18. Posted by: charris fan - 02/23/2009

i totally agree with orangeinsomniac. Meyer changes the names, places, and demographic to make it appealing to tweens and teens but totally Sookie fanfic.

so watched this for first time due to all the hype, and what on earth is this piece of poorly written television?
seriously the sheer stupidity of the characters, predictable plotline has me wonderng. not to mention the stilted acting.
i bet the books are actually really good and its sad to see it being trashed on screen,
    sorry to fans

Dear huh your insane I love this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Posted by: jbw - 03/23/2009

    A. Stephanie Meyers has NOTHING on Charlaine Harris. I’ve read both series.
    B. From what I can tell the show is a lot different from the books and the characters aren’t exactly how I think the books describe them. I agree with Homesick Angel that the Eric on the show definately doesn’t measure up to the Eric of the books, but he does have longer hair in both.
    C. This link didn’t work for me. Blah.

  22. Posted by: What? - 04/07/2009

    Sorry,
I watched the whole episode and not one character had a good line or delivered it convincingly. Horrible. I’m glad I didn’t talk anyone into watching it with me because it would have wasted an hour of both of our lives.

Charlaine Harris’ books are nearly perfect, and I very much like the HBO series, but they have gone so far afield with some of the characterizations and plot twists I’m very disappointed. The casting alone baffles me, it couldn’t be more poorly cast, Sookie is supposed to be a VERY pretty, blue eyed, very buxom type,,, a Marilyn Monroe type,,, sorry, Anna’s a terrific actress (sometimes) but she ain’t Sookie. Bill is supposed to be clean shaven at all times, with slightly longer than average sideburns as he had just been shaved before he was turned,,, Moyer’s runs around with that ‘Sonny’ from Miami Vice three day growth half the time. Eric is supposed to be absolutely Godlike in stature and looks, and while I like Scarsgaard very much, he isn’t quite all that. And Eric has long hair, not short as in the previews for the second season. It’s a huge vampire thing that they are as they were when turned, except better looking,,, the hair stays the same because it doesn’t do any good to cut it. The guy playing Sam couldn’t be more wrongly cast. The woman who plays Pam is pretty good, but 15 years too old. The changing of Tara to a black chick with a bad attitude is apparently a weak ploy to attract some black viewers and is a VERY bad plot twist that is just plain screwing up the works.
Jason is perfectly cast, and for a Brit he does the best southern accent on the show except for the sheriff who has a genuine accent being from Memphis himself. (I’m southern and the accents can be grating when done so badly).

As I said I really like the series, but except for the names, it has little to do with the books anymore. I LOVE the books. Why when the Hollywood types find a great property, they thing changing it will make it better? It never works.

If you really want to know the story without downloading the episodes or trying to find a good source for it, the movie was based off a book called “Dead in Dixie. It is the only reason Im trying to find episodes. The book was really good and Im not too big of a fan of vampire love stories.

All of my friends told me that I had to watch this show cuz its the best ever. I did and the only thing I can say is that I will never get that hour of my life back. The acting is just terrible, almost worse than transformers, but not quite. There are some books that should be left as books and this is one of those. As for all the comparisons to the “Twilight” series, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I had NEVER heard of True Blood or anything to do with it until the Twilight series made it big. Just my humble opinion but I would rather read the books and watch Twilight over and over than subject myself to anymore of this show.

ok everybody needs to quit bagging on everyone’s vampire novel preferences. Every writer has their own take on vampire lore, i mean for shit’s sake its FICTION there is no “definitive” on what a vampire has to be like, so everyone is entitled to their own interpretation of what they think vampires are like. Stephanie meyer fans shouldn’t bag on the other vampire novelists and vice versa. The beauty of the different authors is that they all appeal to a different crowd so there’s something for everyone. Just because they are different doesn’t mean one is better than the rest.

Just puleeeeaazz stop praising Twilight. It is nothing more than a tuned down teenage version and it does not even hope to compare to Harrison’s Sookie Stackhouse series. It’s like comparing Eragon to Lord of the rings and saying Eragon is is a the greater piece of work.

After saying that, having read both series they both have their charms but I much like the more real version of Harrison.
